Did Larry Bird say something about the show being nominated for an emmy

while he was defending his mission on Earth to his father?

Yes I heard it too. Although not for any category I'd immediately think of. This is from a Google search, the first result that came up. It's from buddytv.Com on 2013 nominations:

"More or Less the Kind of Thing You May or May Not Possibly See on Broadway" from The Neighbors

The nominees for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics are always good for a laugh or two (past winners including Saturday Night Live's "Dick in a Box" and Jimmy Kimmel Live's "I'm *beep* Matt Damon"). This year my personal favorite is this big, splashy musical sequence from ABC's alien comedy The Neighbors. With lines like "I want to slap the entire cast of Glee," it's cheeky and fun. Also, it's written by Disney legend Alan Menken (he wrote the songs from The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin). If he wins, it will make him only the 12th person to win the coveted EGOT (winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony).

Yes they got an emmy nomination for that song last year. Of course it wasn't televised because that category didn't make the show.

There were a lot of Fourth Wall jokes last episode. It reminded me of last season where they made some self-referencial humor about the show.

I like it. It works because its always the Aliens who say it.
