One of the things that I have really like about The Neighbors is the background music selections. The show has turned me on to some really good artists that I would not have otherwise known or heard.
For the second season finale, the show featured Caroline Pennell's cover of Leaving on a Jet Plane (Breaks Remix) and The Frays Love Don't Die (You hear the guitar rift of Love Don't Die as Larry Bird speaks about the future of the show).
I'm a musician (or was. Sadly, at 65, I'd rather watch TV...), and haven't listened to the radio in decades. So where do you find new music these days? Like you, I often find them lurking in the background of TV shows. Or on NPR or gambling on a youtube video. As much as I hated radio dictating our musical selection, it gave us a place to continually hear new songs, that we all knew. Today, everyone has a band. Music is wide open! Just try to find it! And odd - they pay enough to have these songs in their shows, yet info on the song and artist is often spotty. ABCFam might list the artist at the end. But I'd rather see a listing of everything. Something to pause on, if your curious. Plus, songs are often much better with the context of a show or movie. It gives them a perspective that you may not get on the radio, if you remember the scene or the show.
I really like it when songs perfectly fit a particular scene as with the dream sequence featuring The Veils - Vicious Traditions from Mr. Brooks starring Kevin Costner.
