Jasmine - major spoilers ep 1 and 2

Hang on a minute. Jasmine?

What's her story? So far she doesn't make sense. She was married to a respectable Marine sergeant during the war.

But a short few years later (don't know what happened to their marriage but we'll undoubtedly find out); she's attractive, apparently very smart and cagey and is shacked up with a sleazy two-bit comedian with mob ties to Mickey and Bugsy? She also has some crazy made-up name it seems.

What?

And the plot thickens when we see she is a VERY accomplished photographer with her own very expensive developing equipment in her apartment? Really?

And she's been sneaking around taking compromising shots of Bugsy and the crew? She also has the presence of mind to gather all the incriminating evidence left into a satchel and hides it in a locker at the train or bus station.

I'm guessing she's not what she appears.

I'm thinking she's an FBI informant or perhaps even on their payroll. Getting hooked up with Hecky at the club was a way to keep her close to the action with Mickey and Bugsy and do her work.

There has just been a war; her husband was off fighting. Maybe she got a job in government work like a lot of women did; and as a beautiful woman with serious photographic skills she was recruited to inform on or infiltrate Bugsy's operation.

The way she handled herself when the detectives were interrogating her seemed more than just a smart aleck woman. She almost seemed like she's trained in some of the spy arts.

Her placement there where her ex-husband is a detective would also be a good way for the FBI to look into dirty cops, too. It's a two-fer for the FBI if she's with them.

Time will tell. And obviously, if she's with the FBI she can't tell Joe. Because she doesn't know if he's one of the dirty cops in the LA department!

I was wondering why a classy woman like her would get mixed up with Heckey. Don't know if she's working for the fbi, she could be... but I do think her relationship is more than just her liking him

I do like your idea though. She takes picture. And she has a job close to Bugsy

Yes.

It just seemed a big leap from wife of respectable Marine war hero to slimeball Hecky--unless there is a reason.

And it was her various professional skills that stood out, as well. If she'd simply been a girl who went bad when her man was overseas, she might have been portrayed a little more sleazy and cheap. At the very least, I hope we find out what broke them up.

Whatever it turns out to be, I suspect she has a very interesting back story.
