Is really that bad?

Can Darabont fail?6.7 seems scary

reply

considering it was at 7.5 before last night, sounds like its bad

reply

Yeah, it was 7.5 BEFORE THE FIRST EPISODE AIRED. That alone is reason enough not to take the ratings on this site seriously.

reply

Its really bad. *beep*. I thought this must be a joke but maybe this show wants to be overdramatized unrealistic crap.

reply

wayyyy overdramatized.

reply

I thought it was great. It's only got 200 votes, don't write it off yet.

reply

It was a bit slow halfway thru the first hour. But the second hour actually held my interest.

I wouldn't call it "epic". But I will DVR and watch the new episodes over the next couple of weeks.

Overall, I don't think it was horrible.

We were on our way to Midnight Mass!

reply

It was just...bland.

It's bigger problem is that the main character's motivations were completely absent during the first two episodes, making it difficult to relate to him in any way. He doesn't even come off as mysterious, just unfocused and unmotivated. And it doesn't help that he's such a bore in every other aspect, too.

Another huge problem is that all the characters are just so conventional. It's like no one has a personality, except the character played by Davalos, who actually seemed subtly tormented.

What the show needs is not more action, but to rewrite its entire cast of characters.

reply

Pretty bad. The casting was bad. Didn't like any of the actors. Want good gangster show? WatchBoardwalk Empire

reply

Hey Van Alden, you're awesome, but this show is still pretty good, Jon Bernthal proves as a solid lead character and Darabont's direction and style has never been better, considering he's one of my favorite directors of all time.

reply

Boardwalk empire is a great show but it does not hold a *beep* candle to the Sopranos.

reply

I like the Sopranos enough to watch it in its entirety 3 times but I'm a little more excited to see BE each week. I really despised almost every character on the Sopranos though, maybe that's part of why. Though both are different enough from each other in some aspects that I wouldn't feel comfortable guaranteeing a fan of one that they would love the other. Unless they just like any gangster stuff.

reply

I enjoyed it I love mob shows and Noir style so it was Great for me.

reply

Not even close. For me right now it is a strong 8.0, but because of all this hate around I gave it a ten. I feel like some people are trying to destroy this show's reputation. I know, this sounds a little awkward, but I can't see any reasons for so much hatred. For example, why trying to compare Mob City and Boardwalk Empire? These shows are different and there is no need for such comparison.

reply

Watch it for yourself and find out.

Personally I gave it a 10/10, apart from Breaking Bad, I haven't enjoyed something this much for ages.

reply

Lol a 10/10? Haha. That's hilarious. And stop overrating Breaking Bad.

reply

I'll rate things however I like thanks. I'm not into the whole herd mentality thing.

Stop overrating yourself. Breaking Bad is the best.

I Sympathize with Lars Von Trier.

reply

For me, it's 6-7 territory right now. I'm not in love with it, but I'll give it a chance. If it wasn't for the cast, maybe I'd be saying to hell with it, but there's so many fine actors on this show.

reply

The cast is very impressive. Lots of familiar faces.
