I've worked retail and work at a movie theater now, and am around a lot of people, and I'll come out and say it- a lot of the time, as the day goes on, I'll stop putting money in people's hands and start putting it on the counter. Especially if I'm not sure where your hands have been.
Why?
People are disgusting! It becomes a health-safety hazard to touch people's hands over and over again and not be able to wash your hands after each time. You'd be shocked at just how many people clearly don't wash their hands, or come in with dirt/food/etc. caked on their hands. Hell, I've had customers with what was clearly dried blood (or in some cases fresh blood from scrapes and cuts) or stinky, smelly fertilizer and god-knows-what-else caked on their hands. Sorry not sorry... if you clearly have your skin stained different colors and smelling like crap, I'm not touching you.
Sorry, I don't have the time to wash my hands after every single transaction, so chances are, if I'm even somewhat suspicious, your money is going on the counter.
Doesn't make me a "b****", nor does it make Walt one. It makes us people with common sense.

Walt is a dick but that's not the reason.
The way he carries himself, the way he bailed on getting a tattoo with the rest of the guys, the way he criticized a girl for altering a superhero costume, jumping to the other bowling team when his team was losing, trying to barter with Nichelle Nichols over the Uhura doll...it never ends.
Mike is quiet and seems like a decent guy, Ming is the nice guy that everyone playfully picks on, Brian is the sarcastic bugger that's always funny and doesn't care, and Walt is the dickhole. It's like a new, bizarre version of The Beatles.
