What the hell is with those studio-lit shots of Kevin Smith?

I get it. He really doesn't work at Secret Stash, but the Valentine's Day episode had me a little creeped out. So...has Smith dropped more pounds, or has he just put it in his contract that the lighting be placed just so, that he looks as trim and fit as possible? I mean, how many shots were there when Smith does this neck-stretch/head-tilt/eyebrow-raise that reminds me of my dog when I say the word, "bacon"?

My biggest gripe with this show(a show that I really like)is usually the first shot of Kevin. Yes, it's scripted, etc, but it never shows more than the very disingenuous 'so what happened this week' / wide eyed-expression. moment at the start of every show. I guess it wouldn't bother me if I didn't have like 500 hours of hearing and seeing him when he's actually genuine.
