This is after catching the gun and then saying he "has good hands", that is not funny but a writer trying WAY too hard.
I'm glad you mentioned that, because I liked how it was a nod to the first film, as were other parts of the sequel. Many of their screwups were winks to us that things were eventually going to go their way again just like the first time (i.e. not ending up in prison). That was part of the fun of the sequel.
In a lot of ways the sequel really was an homage to the first film, which was an interesting route for the screenwriters to take. They may have realistically figured they couldn't outdo the first one and weren't entirely trying to. Some people liked the sequel better, so the writers should be satisfied.
