major goof at the end.

no movie has made me laugh this much since O'brother where art thou?.
i had a great time watching this 3 times the past few days.but the goof is that at the end,M'F'er Jones shows up at pinkberry with the bag of money that had the tracer in it. they were supposed to switch the money to the large red bag to get rid of the tracer.
so how come the cops apparently forgot about the money because the guys never had to account for it,and why couldn't they just trace it to jones? anyway it doesn't ruin the movie for me,it is one of my favorite funny movies now. my favorite line from the movie...
"whats the next part of your plan M'F'er". at the end of the funniest car chase ever.

reply

They probably forgot about it the Hansen was dead and his son now serving time for his murder. No one to calm the money

"Some of the worst things imaginable have been done with the best intentions"

reply

of course,i knew that, but the cops certainly knew about the money and i cannot see police just forgetting about $5,000,000. you see,if they had switched the money to the red bag like they were supposed to,there would be no tracer. in that situation jones would definitely get away with the money.but they made a mistake and just hoped no one would notice.the film producers probably thought the audience wouldn't notice the color of the bag at the end,or had forgotten it was supposed to be red. and by the way it is "claim" not "calm".

reply

Would there be no way to take the tracer out and just toss it away? MF Jones was certainly smarter than that, he would not let himself be traced like that... but maybe they forgot, it was just a quick gag at the end.

reply

I'm wondering how he knew the precise plan and location of everything since they never told him. Him following them is plausible I suppose...but that's a ton of following to get the right night for the plan's execution. Plus, he seemed to know exactly what was going on...

reply

Pretty simple, he could have just followed Nick, Kurt and Dale. They'll idiots so it isn't farfetched that they wouldn't have noticed someone following them.

reply

I agree. He could've followed them and snuck up on them on foot to overhear what was was being said (maybe even used technology for that). After that he would've had time to get his car so that he could come pick them up.

Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.

Well, the tracer they used in the movie was the size of a hockey puck and would be easily noticed and thrown away. In reality, a tracer would have been much smaller and been in one of the stacks of money or sewn into the bag.
