Is This Canon to Batman Beyond?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but seeing that Bruce is in the same condition at the end of this movie as he was in the beginning of Batman Beyond, I was curious as to how much of this story was canon with the rest of the Batman mythos, seeing how Joker is killed and everything. Also, do you think DC will make a Dark Knight Returns: Master Race movie (although I'm aware of the negative reception that storyline recieved), I'm just a fan of DC animated movies.

When it was first published Frank Miller's TDKReturns was not canon with anything (although since then Miller has written some further Batman tales that he puts in the same continuity). As far as I know the same applies to the animated version.

All for a box of chocolates...

This film is not connected with the events of the DC Animated Universe. The Joker's death as seen in BATMAN BEYOND: RETURN OF THE JOKER was a much different situation.

I don't know how official it's considered by DC, but apparently Frank Miller claims all his Batman works are of the same continuity. DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN, DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE, BATMAN: YEAR ONE and ALL-STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN are all canon to each other according to him.

I wouldn't hold my breath on a film adaptation of THE MASTER RACE, though I am curious if they would be willing to salvage some of the good ideas from Frank's follow-up stories and make another animated film. I'd love for Peter Weller to voice Batman again.
