So was Max related to one of the guys in the pub? If he was one of the guys in the pub, (which they imply since he seems to have known what happened there) I would've thought that Tom would recognize him when he saw him in his car. I don't understand the connection between Max and the pub incident.
shareThere was no connection. Max set up the fake website so was always planning to lure them and stalk them in the woods. He says to her "I did it all. It was always just me" The incident in the pub was just a red herring to make you think the attacks had something to do with the locals in the pub but it wasn't. Max was in the pub but not with the other guys. When he found out that lucy thought it was the guys from the pub that were after them he just exploited it.
