This actually used to be a normal thing. "Stalking" is a recent distortion of in our overly punitive society and yet one of the many reasons why more Americans are in jail in this nazi compound than in any other nation in the world. True stalking is hiding only with the intent to commit harm without revealing their identity, hence how a cat stalks a mouse. However, turning secret admiration or attempts to reach someone into "stalking" when the intent there is to commit good is way overarching of the law.

We met online" and then precede to give the cops the website. The cops would have called the website and gotten the info from them.

actually i first thought of fingerprints from the note.but the dating thing is more likely since it is implied and it's probably a faster way which would explain ,maybe,the cops showing in her apartment only a couple of hours later.
