Absolutely nothing you just mentioned has anything to do with whether or not the f/x looked decent or not. So what if they played with the topography of San Fran? So what if they played with the physics of how a tsunami works or how buildings move in a quake? None of that has any bearing on the f/x department as that is probably not their call to make. The point is did it look good doing what they were told to make it do and yes, it did. The f/x team accomplished their job. So you can climb back down off your horse.

I thought the effects were shoddy in places. Especially the car at the start and the Hoover Dam. On a positive note quite nice powder effect of crumbling rubble.
