I guess it could have been even more unrealistic...

....for instance, the buildings could have fallen up, people falling from 20 floors up could have survived, and the daughter could have grown gills and found out she could breathe underwater.

But even complaining about things like that, there would still be those who would say "don't nit pick, it's just a movie, it doesn't have to be completely realistic!"

Totally OT but I liked the older brother.

Yes, there were some decent actors, and some eye candy, in the movie. That strange annoying botox / plastic surgery gal (an ex-wife or something) notwithstanding.

By that you mean Kylie?

If so I sadly have to agree.

Way back when I was a fan of her never too late and wouldn't change a thing but now...

If, however, you mean Carla Gugino I have no comments. Aside from they could have cast Rosario Dawson.

I don't know about Kylie. The character was on for only a short time. Very annoying; she was asking inappropriate questions of the Rock's wife (I forget their names), then when the quake started she made a scary-looking botox face (eye lifts and botox can look very strange when someone tries to emote intensely), ran out a door then was gone (along with most of the building; an unrealistic but somewhat humorous scene).

I know who Carla was and she looked mostly good, but I think even she had something funky going on with her lips. Not to the degree of the bleachie botox bimbo, though...
