AVGN Episode 120

I can't get over the fact that he literally did nothing except cut his review at the end of the movie, uploaded it and calls it an episode.

He used footage from the real game and instead of the mockup used in the film. Also you can't get over what exactly? That he put the review online? What difference does that make?

That he calls it an episode. It's not an episode it's a rehash. I guess it's good though because you save time not having to watch through the rest of the movie to get to the only somewhat interesting part.

Lol it's his series. If he wants to make it an episode then it's an episode. You're just pointlessly complaining for the sake of complaining.

No.

Not really. On the contrary i found it to be funny.

reply

He did this due to the fact that he was unable to use actual footage from the game because he was unable to acquire the rights.

Using footage from games for a review falls under fair use. You don't need permission.

The legality is different between a web video and distributed film. Their lawyers investigated but nobody really knew if it was legal or not to include game footage from a video game without permission and because the E.T game isn't owned by Atari but by Universal and Steven Spielberg they hit a brick wall and so decided to play it safe by using mock game footage.

Yes, I think that making it into an episode for the series was a really stupid move. A lot of Cinemassacre's recent videos on Youtube have gotten negative feedback regarding the content of the channel, and the comment sections are full of negative talk about the movie and some people have even said that the end was the only good part. I wonder if it was Mike's idea to upload it as an episode in order to keep the community cool - After all, Mike manages the Youtube channel, and we've seen what happens when the videos get a lot of thumbs down and/or negative comments.

James Rolfe just doesn't care about his AVGN character any more so he's trying to keep it alive as much as possible, that is, for whatever fans that still like it.

It's quite disappointing James can no longer act as AVGN. 😞
