Very pleasantly surprised!

This movie has ALOT of charm in its oldshool practical effects and lowbudget effects. Its dumb, sure, but thats also the point, its made as an 80's straight to video sci fi movie.
I loved it, for what it is.
You cant judge it too harshly, its the man's first movie that didnt shoot on a handycam and the budget was the same as Michael Bay's shoepolish.
Well done James.

Yeah a lot of the harsh backlash is unwarranted. Yes the acting is pretty horrendous, the dialogue stale, and the effects laughable. But do people not think James is in on the joke? His admiration for cheesy old movies and practical effects really shined through at the end and it was hilarious watching the extremely obvious model cars and sets be destroyed like something out of an old Godzilla flick.
Anyone who was more than just underwhelmed, like say disappointed or angered, took this movie way too seriously. Much more seriously than James did anyway.
