Remember the giant robot battle in the avgn movie? That was crap.

reply

Maybe so, but it's expensive crap, relatively speaking.

touche, not matter how many valid responses the avgn fanboy gonna say, you just destroyed him, he's ruined.

reply

Remember those amazing characters, awesome plot, sick acting, great cinematography and sweet jumps? Yea...this movie had no excuse to be bad other than James ruined it. There was no need for 90% of the crap he put into his movie.

reply

No, Napoleon Dynamite is hipster garbage. See, I can state opinions as facts too.

reply

Yea...except that is your opinion and not a fact, unlike what I said. There is a reason Napoleon Dynamite made 100x what it cost to produce and this pile of *beep* will barely make back its production value.

reply

Right, so you're like 12 years old. Got it.

How does that statement even make sense? If anything you are nothing but a child if you actually liked this horrendously terrible movie that does nothing but *beep* on the AVGN character.

reply

You are a strong, bitter, fanboy in denial. In 5 years you will look back and regret being such a bellend.

I'm the farthest thing from a hipster, and I loved Napoleon Dynamite. I have cattle farm in GA, and live in the hollywood hills. HATE hipsters. Pabst is what my dad would give to the dog, or soak meat in. Those idiots drink it to be ironic. MORONS. I'm also about 3 times the size of a normal hipster (and lean). Idk why, evey hipster is either really skinny, or a bearded fatty.

It's funny how these fashion-victims try so hard to be different e.g. at the gym lifting weights or inscribing to fighting-sport classes, with no goal in mind at all.

Don't waste your time with that Jeremy guy, he's a troll and says that bs on his comments. He's full of shít like the Classic AVGN would say.

Thx for the advice, I guess

Halloween, Slacker, Clerks, Mad Max and El Mariachi had lower budget than AVGN. James blew the money on shooting it in LA, when he should have shot it in his small home town.

reply

Correct. He tried to go big, when he should have set his sights a little lower. That was the movie's downfall. It tried to be something it didn't have the budget for (which he spent half of on the *beep* tank and hummer). Having the cheap effects, bad acting and silly storyline is fine for a web-only release but this was a theatrical feature.

There's a reason Blair Witch and Clerks (all on a lower budget than James had) were mainly just people standing around talking---they didn't have enough money to do much else.James would have been better served filming a character piece that examined The Nerd himself and his place as an internet celebrity, even make a few sly references to the very valid criticisms levied at him such as the Nerd's phony rage and the character being past its expiration date. The 'haters' should have been represented, and they'd have been represented a lot better than the Nerd's fans were in the actual film--idiot fanboys who'd lick his toilet seat simply because he sat on it who only care about what he's going to review next and who are constantly badgering him about it...which I'm pretty sure comes from his real life experiences with his fans.

Face it, if you're an AVGN fan, you were NOT portrayed in a positive light. I wish he would have spent more time exploring his relationship with his fans instead of insulting them the way he did by depicting them the way he did.

Going back to the budget for a second, I respect his entrepreneurship but why didn't he hook up with Lloyd Kaufman (who was IN THE MOVIE) to release this as a Troma production? Sure it might not have gotten a theatrical release but he'd be surrounded by experienced filmmakers who knew how to make low budget schlock, which was what AVGN: The Movie turned out to be anyway.

He had a real opportunity to make something special, and wasted it on a damn tank.

reply

For the *beep* that they were going for with Gaint Robots, Zombies, Aliens, and Space Ship. He probably needed double or triple that budget. Napoleon Dynamite had practically no effects budget.

reply

Your ignorance is amazing. This pile of garbage could be made with one camera and one crappy laptop. You must be 16 to think otherwise.

reply

Interesting but Napoleon Dynamite was actually a comedic nerdy film whereas AVGN is "eh" and more to the point of "why the hell does this crap exist?!".

James Rolfe should've just stick to reviewing games than doing this abomination.

So what.
Napoleon Dynamite sucked balls aswell.

Lots of salt in these threads, as expected. I did not watch the movie but from the few well written reviews I've read, they have a few points in common towards the choices made regarding the creation of his movie. Apparently, the lack of experience is a big factor here and, unless you have the right people backing up your project, missteps are bound to happen.

AVGN can be a good critic of other peoples works and I am sure he can be even more about his own. With a low budget and the impossibility of changing his choices due of budget constrains halfway down the road could be the reason for the result.

Or maybe he is just riding on his e-fame and expected to make a quick buck out of this. Or at least break even. Who the *beep* knows. To me it looks like he is better than that though.
