When the boyfriend researches the symbol on the Internet, it specifically says that the male host must complete 3 steps before he is accepted by the demon. The last step is that he must spill the blood of an inviolate. But Hunter didn't kill Alex, Katie did, or at least the strangled, cut-off gurgling at the end seems to suggest it. So the last step wasn't fulfilled, therefore Hunter can't be the host yet.
You're just making an assumption. There's no conclusive evidence that she dies at that moment. Wyatt/Hunter probably goes through with the ritual and kills her after the movie ends.

The way I look at it, whatever the boy reads on the internet is just speculation. Its not necessarily true & exactly what this demon wants.
So Wyatt/Hunter can be the host regardless of what is on the internet. Not like people who post stuff on internet are masters of demon knowledge.
