What about the fork?

So, the kid is saying the fork can tell the future, but then, we never see it do anything, not even put food in someone's mouth.

I read somewhere that the child actor himself improvised that scene. The director liked it & left it in.
So maybe they left it at that. I personally would have loved to see a scene using that fork as a 'predictor of evil' or some such.

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

reply

That makes sense. I thought it was something I missed.

reply

Yeah the kid did improvise the whole thing and the directors went along with it. Most scenes are actually improvised in this series.

There is an object that has a name that escapes me...its something like 'runing stick' or wand.
Basically its a stick/wand that is sometimes used in supernatural rituals to find buried treasure. But like many mystic objects, it can apparently *summon* evil entities.
Maybe it was just meant to be a play on this type of object, and the actor just ran with it & adlibbed.

A kind soul on the 'I Need to Know" board helped me out.

I had the incorrect name. The objects I was thinking of are called Dowsing Rods or Diving Rods.
They can be used to find anything from water to treasures.

Hey, fiat. The correct word is a DIVINING rod.

"to discover or declare (something obscure or in the future) by divination; prophesy; to discover (water, metal, etc.) by means of a divining rod; to perceive by intuition or insight; conjecture".

reply

Oops, actually *divining* is what I MEANT to write! Typo alert.
Thanks.
