NO, I'm pretty sure it was her brother shooting.

This is who i thought it was as well. Based from outline it was a young man and i doubt it was his own son.

I also say the brother. The way he looked at his sister when the family first found out.

I suspect he had a thing for her but never acted on it, so, jealous of the teacher. I think the shot scared him and he ran away. Not a man like the teacher's son.
