He FORGAVE all those b----ards? (spoiler)
Just watched the movie, really liked it. I did feel he was an overly-passive sort of a character at least in the beginning (a sentiment evidently shared here).
What also bugged me a bit was how in the one-year later scene at the end, lots of the guys who were once his friends but deserted him at the first sign of trouble all said hello and were all nice and polite then. If I was Lucas I'd have been like 'yeah whatever'. I might've managed a forced smile at the very most, but I'd sure be letting them know wordlessly that their betrayal would never be forgotten.
It was a small town, and I realize him wanting to get along with everyone as good as possible after being alone for so long was important, but some lines can't be crossed y'know?
