The games get better, while the radio stations get worse.

Starting with Vice City, the four main GTA titles have gotten better and better as far as gameplay, story, graphics, etc. but Vice City still has the best soundtrack of the four, and they get progressively worse from there.

The fact that the console versions of IV and V don't have custom radio options is infuriating.

As a dedicated fan of both SCARFACE and the musician Giorgio Moroder, I find it difficult to argue with you. However, I still find enough to keep me happy while cruising along in my recently stolen automobile. 

Gta 4 did have custom radio on 360. Hit the home button, go to media player, and make sure you have ripped cd mp3s, or a USB in your console with music and wabam

Are you sure? I didn't know that. I'll have to give it a try. One would think that 5 on Xbox 360 would have the same feature.

I concur! While I think GTA4’s station was slow burning, it was kind of strange to me. However, GTA 5 has a very mediocre soundtrack, which is including the songs I like. Such as Radio X; why would the 90’s rock station become an old-school underground punk station? That makes zero sense to me. And half of the stations play the exact same music.

I think what is the most frustrating is that the radio stations in this game do not represent the time period Very well. They are just random songs. VC felt so 80’s and SA felt so 90’s. In 20 years, can you say that GTA5’s radios felt so 2013?
