I've seen the entire Season 2 now

...and I have to say some things were totally ridiculous and unbelievable. If it wasn't for Puss, I would have been hell bored.

Still I did enjoy watching, so look forward to a Season 3.

is there any connection between the two seasons ??

reply

No, there isn't. The only connection is that you have the same main character, the woman detective, but that's it. Well, apart from that they do show a scene in New Zealand of what happened before she went to Sydney.

thank you - look forward to seeing it

Let us know what you thought of it, when you do get to see it.

Just completed episode 1.

I barely made it through the first 15 minutes w/ all the misogynistic men. The scene at the training facility was beyond stupid, and I don't think it would be possible to fill a scene with more cliched or stereotypical characters than the one with the tech guys eating lunch.

I don't see how a modern city police force could or would tolerate the conduct I viewed in the 1st episode. I could certainly see incidents and snide comments but it seems really far fetched that senior officers would tolerate the lack of respect being shown Robin in that training scene.

Having said that, the women are not much better than the men (if at all) so far, and it's entirely possible I'm letting some bias seep through after having read about all the criticism of the show after finishing last season. I don't remember thinking the first season was egregiously misandrist while watching, but it's been so long.

Yeah and I didn't really understand what they were laughing at. Were they new recruits? I think they were. Maybe they thought she didn't 'look the part' of a great police detective. Or they were just being silly, in a very Aussie kind of way. I guess because they were trainees they were less strict with them, or maybe Robin was actually being 'tested'.

I'm through episode 4 now, and I'm glad I continued. After some initial apprehension about the writing of the male characters, which was probably due to reading some others criticisms, I'm glad to say I haven't noticed anything especially egregious since the first episode. I can't think of a single character who isn't in some way effed up, and in a twist, it would seem that the most sane characters are a man and a group of prostitutes.

I do have to agree that there were some incredibly hard to swallow coincidences. Unbelievable and ridiculous are apt descriptors imo, but if you can manage to ignore the one really big one, it's still worth watching.

reply

Yep, for sure. Aside from the incredible coincidences, including that really big one, it's quite entertaining and some of the performances are very good, especially Elizabeth Moss who is always interesting to watch.

I know I shouldn't like him, but my favourite character is Puss.

So Puss leaves with all the girls, and thats never resolved? Well, that was anti climatic wasnt it? Just hops on a plane and hes gone with all the pregnant girls? Not much of an ending. Hope Pyke at least knocks on the door and stays.
