Calling all New Zealanders

I'm wondering whether this mini-series was a success in New Zealand?

reply

I never heard of it until I read about it online.
And I don't know of anyone else in NZ that has seen it, so I guess not.

It aired on UKTV which is a slightly obscure cable channel.

I'm guessing a lot of Brit stuff?

reply

Well someone saw it in NZ because it was nominated for some awards there.

RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman 1967-2014... a tremendously great and talented actor.

reply

no it never made it to free-to -air here; it submerged like like a Real Estate agent going swimming in Middle of the lake. Nasty misandrist show. Now Campion is complaining at Cannes about the lack of female input, she likes to have it both ways ...

It was never aired on television here. Never heard of it. It was a BBC/Australian production. I'm glad they filmed it here and didn't hide that it was actually NZ. However, there were some real, un-New Zealand things about the film.

"or just don't get it"
The standard catch all for anyone who doesn't like something that the poster does like. They just don't get it. Like the emperor's new clothes? If you can't see them then you must be stupid.

Well I'm from NZ and I watched it, as did many people I know. I think it played on the movie channel which not every one gets so probably not as big as it should have been.

I found it quite realistic of small town NZ.
