Blatant False Advertising

Just to be clear, I'm not being critical; I thought the movie was great. But the synopsis says:

"In New York City, a crime lord's right-hand man is seduced by one of his boss's victims, a woman seeking retribution."

That's just not accurate. The trailer leads you to believe the above synopsis is accurate too.

yeah saw it last night, and though i liked the film, for a second i really didn't like it while watching it b/c it was not at all what I expected to be. That really took me out of the film for a while. Once I got over that it was cool, but man I hate when producers do that. They are just trying to sell a film though, so I get it..

somewhere along the line there were obviously some people who had disagreements about how to market this film, let alone what kind of film it was in the first place.

i do think it has an audience,,, they just missed it with their marketing.

So it was going use some misdirected advertising too get people in theaters. Otherwise people would of been underwhelmed to find the center of film is a romance about two broken people with some philosophical revenge themes. I expected a bit more but left the theater happy. Oz taking in so much money proves the audience is too passive too want deeper and better quality films.

Indeed, twas all a lie. Due to the fake synopsis, a good way into it, I thought she was lying about the accident, trying to trick Farrell into killing the guy for some more diabolical, Terence Howard-related purpose. I even suspected there might be a tracking device or something inside that rabbit's foot she gave him. But...nope.

The upshot of being lied to is that I was genuinely surprised when absolutely nothing surprising happened in this movie.
