Old Fashioned Film Noir

This is a throwback to those films about damaged people living on the fringes of society. The acting was good, but unfortunately could have used a much better script to work with.

Beatrice wasn't all that scarred up by her accident, so her issues clearly started way before that. She's a grown woman still living with her mother. We were never given a glimpse of her pre-accident life. It wasn't logical her job would fire her for having a few scars. Not to mention the fact that you are forced by circumstances to make a living -- regardless of any issues you have.

People always think, like Beatrice, that if one event happened (like the drunk being killed), or if the just lost some weight, or if the get a boob job, it will change things. It doesn't. The change happens in your mind and how you view the world and your place in it. This film would have been more powerful if it had taken that road.

No kids are cruel by nature. Too young to understand the consequences of their actions.
