I really enjoyed this film. I had read some posotive and negative reviews and, while the film is not perfect, I loved it. Sure the ending cound have been better but the relationship of beatrice and victor was fascinating. Not to mention, the action scenes were great. Anybody have any thoughts on the film?
It's imperfect, but I don't rate movies on how perfect they get everything, I rate them on how much I enjoyed them. And I enjoyed this immensely.
Farrell and Rapace were spectacular in their roles (even though like almost everyone, I found her "disfigurement" not that realistic).
Best scenes for me was when Farrell released the rats on the Albanian guy. You can see the internal struggle he's going through. He really wants the guy to die in the most horrible way possible, but on the other hand, he simply wasn't innately cruel. He could still empathize with him. In the end, he gave in and just shot him, then went back to the car visibly shaken. For Rapace it was when she gets the note and sees the guy is still alive.
An excellent film with a story and pacing that forces the viewer to think. It had a European feel to it which set it apart from the usual paint-by-numbers American efforts.
I won't go overboard with praise but it was a good yarn and well worth a watch - 7/10. Agree with everyone who has praised the performances of Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace and Terrence Howard plus the delightful Isabelle Huppert.
Was different to what I was expecting, apart from the last bit with guns and explosions! Loved that. But also enjoyed the unexpected human drama. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing!
just come here to say I really enjoy the movie. definitely not a typical action movie from Holywood.
the story line is simply but entertaining. the acting is brilliant, top-notch. you can see/feel what those characters have been through.
it seem to me that both want revenge but know that it won't heal/cure your pain. yet that's the only way they want to act. maybe because that's the only way they know. until they find the other.
God work in mysterious way. I am not religious but that probably the best way to describe this movie.
thought it was really good, wasnt expecting it, one of the best i've seen of this sort of genre for quite a while. noomi was amazing and hats off to farrell, never a favourite of mine, but I think in this he was pretty good
I agree with you. I was lucky enough to see this blind without having seen the spoiler-y (sort of) trailer, so I got to experience it unbiased and without expectations. I am so glad it turned out that way because after the credits rolled this had become an instant favourite.
I love a great character piece and an unconventional romance and this movie delivers on those levels and more. I enjoy the movie so much to the point that I genuinely don't understand negative reviews of it. Sure it's no Shawshank Redemption or something else people can call a great movie, but I think it hits the mark its aiming for beautifully.
Never go up against a Sicilian, when death is on the line!
