after watching the first movie several times recently, i had to re watch this that i only saw at the theatre in 2014, and after the first fresh in memory, i was surprised how many jokes were repeated, as well as putting these two guys on the road again, even the movie's bad guy once again riding with them in the car, some of the comedy is darker, some downright creepy, the scene where the sound went away was disturbing somehow, and when i saw it in the theatre i wasn't sure if something was wrong, this time i knew it was suppose to be silent, i wouldn't have mind mute on some of the soundtrack. it feels rushed and the actor playing harry seems to drop out of his boob role every once in a while, for instance in one sort of dramatic scene about 70 minutes in, mixing comedy and drama often don't work, i don't tune into dumb and dumber to see drama, since so much of the jokes are old in new packaging, it pretty much is only fun to watch this once and otherwise stick to the original, this has some pretty slow moments, and the added roles are a big part of that, except for kathleen turner who had some good scenes, even though mike starr isn't a comedian, he was still funnier as the ticked off bad guy riding with them in the first movie, you don't always need comedians, just look at the naked gun franchise, by the way, imagine if those or the austin powers movies just repeated the jokes, it would not have put the sequels in such high regard as it is today, but if you like the first you got to like this and harry and lloyd are such innocent likeable guys it's impossible to diss, and you got to love the couch fort scene.

I've thought the movie was really good up until the scene when they've arrived at the convention, the movie gets a little boring once they arrive at the convention.
