So the cops did eventually show up?

Did whoever made this movie have something against the police?

They proved to be the most useless characters in this pretty bad movie. The kids did see one cop who was "called away" whilst in pursuit of the suspect? I may have been mistaken by what I heard because I was falling asleep but that seemed to be the case.

Are police really this bad? You would think this type of thing would have been broadcasting to every patrolling car out there? Or am I wrong and amber alerts (we don't have them in Australia as far as I know) not taken all that seriously? I just don't really understand this.

I mean, towards the end the kids called the cops for about the thirtieth time (probably more times off screen) and they were "on the way" so what actually happened with these fools?

This was a movie killer for me. It didn't make any sense and it just destroyed the movie (other than the 2 main characters just fighting for 60 minutes) though I do think this could have been good ... with good writing, decent acting and actual logic in place.

The 3.9 rating is quite fair.

On the one hand, yea, the police really can be this bad. They are far more interested in pulling people over to hand out tickets because that is what makes their pensions possible. On the other hand, the Amber Alert car makes lots of turns within town and they do not report that information to the police. How would the police ever find the car without that information?

Civility is just a warm and fuzzy name for censorship.

They seemed pretty terrible, indeed. It seemed a bit unrealistic that cops are actually that moronic and useless. The plot was very ridiculous as well. If the cops weren't taking me seriously when I was right in front of the house, I'd call from a different phone and say I'm witnessing a child being battered and/or raped or something that'll interest them. I most definitely wouldn't actually go into the house. The girl risked her own little brother's life!
