I mean sure, the guy and the girl both died, but they killed the bad guy and saved the little girl. They went out as heroes. I liked that a lot. It's about as happy an ending as you can get with a found footage film.

And the camera man lived. The camera man who kept quiet and didn't yell, scream or act like a complete idiot. That made me happy.

It would have been an awesome ending if, instead of reading about their fates, they used 'cops' style footage. Show them entering the house, finding the camera man alive. Securing the abducted girl and finding the scene and camera. Then have some cop talking about how heroic they were to risk their life for someone they probably never met, and that they can rest in peace knowing they saved her. Now that would have been a great ending.

shareThe little girl at the end was only saved because she was a little girl. It is just like how The Collector ended. The little girl was saved and everyone else, even the cat, DIED! They are afraid to kill kids in some movies. If this was real life she would have at least been shot. I mean, it was dark and there were bullets flying everywhere!
