Stupid film with stupid plot holes.

This movie has so many gaping holes in it the thing is just stupid.

1) You call the cops claiming you see an Amber Alert vehicle, they will lock onto your signal and be on your ass within minute, not hours.

2) When you catch up to somebody in an amber alert vehicle you keep them in a public place, LIKE A GAS STATION.

3) That camera certainly had a long record time on it, they were out for hours.

4) Remote microphones don't have that long of range, this wasn't important to the makers of the film until the end of the film when they were trying to track the mic signal.

Those were major discrepancies.

A sure sign of amateur horror writing is to make sure the characters are very stupid and ill-equipped to handle stressful or challenging situations

When you're compelled to tell the characters what to do, it's bad writing.

My "#3" key is broken so I'm putting one here so i can cut & paste with it.

And what about the fact that Samantha claimed that the cops said they could follow the guy? Would any cop really advise a person that it's ok to follow a potential kidnapper/murderer/child molester/whatever the hell else?

We're all in the same boat, staying afloat for the moment.

reply

She may have lied. She may have also re-interpreted what they said which was probably something more like "Sorry ma'am, we can't advise you to do that"

I followed a drunk driver for over 15 miles, with a 911 officer on the phone, in a rural area. I was told to stay at a safe distance in case he had an accident. I was also told that when I saw the officers that were waiting ahead to flash my headlights and turn on my hazards. So, yes, it could be quite possible that she would be told to follow the car. (NOT a plot hole) BTW ever hear of a citizens arrest? Basically the same concept.

Pain is merely the weakness leaving the body!

reply

Not sure they are gaping holes.

1. Cops arent always within minutes away, its not a plot hole to say that it would take them a while to respond, but most of the time they would be there very quickly, but I am sure there have been circumstances where it hasnt happened

2. Characters in movies dont always do what good1701d would have done, at the time they werent sure what they were following. them confronting him at a gas station and getting shot there would have just made a different movie

3. the camera filmed what you saw in the movie so if the movie was 100 minutes thats what the camera was able to film. most cameras film 100 minutes

4. the range never got past 100 yards are so again not impossible for remote microphones.

Maybe you should learn what plot holes are.

Maybe you should learn not to defend *beep* films, and yes I know what a plot hole is, similar to knowing what a brainless person posts.

well i know for sure its not like the movies where the pd can lock onto your cell signal and be there. i work in public safety and that is the biggest misconception

Right, dude i can track my BlackBerry within a minute. It will force my computer to tell it's location even when it's in airplane mode or gps and 3g/wifi turned off. You can also tell whether the thief is making a call and if so to what number, I can send messages to my BlackBerry from my computer. I can turn the microphone on and record what he is doing, in fact I can turn the camera on and SEE what he is up to. I can lock it, I can wipe all data or just a part of it. I can destroy the BlackBerry by wiping the OS. It's 2013 sherlock not 1988 anymore, police CAN track you via land-line or mobile call. At least here in Europe we can. Or ask NSA, they know.

reply

glad you like your blackberry, but I've been selling cell phones for
10 years, all kinds, PLUS my wife is an EMT, so I know a bit about what
I am talking about.

#1 not everybody has a smart phone.

#2 those who have smartphones or even regular cells have to turn on
the service(to REGULAR cops, so don't come back with any NSA crap) to let them track your phone instantly, otherwise it may be possible but it will take a lot longer. its your right, here in the US.

#3 even if they had a phone that could be "tracked instantly" as you say, it doesn't always work depending on the cell towers they may be roaming in. also
GPS doesn't work well the inside of a car while your driving, depending on what
phone it is.

I could go on, but you get the picture, so before you run your mouth
about how good your crappy cell phone is, or any other info you want to
spout out to people to try to make them feel small, your should get your
facts straight...

Do us a favor, stay a cell phone sales man. Do me a favor, do not reply ^^.

that was quick

do us a favor? you are speaking for all of humanity now?

It's not my fault that you are an idiot, and that you
probably can't use a razor yet. do you have any shirt
with that collar?
anyway, ya, another one for the ignore list, bye

reply

Fast because, BlackBerry. Whatever Mike, stop spamming my mail folder :). Yes I'm a youngin (21) why'd you even argue with me?

reply

haha, I told you that was a stupid shirt, you still look
like punk ass but at least its a better jacket, LMAO

http://www.facebook.com/mike.d.keith?ref=profile

reply

That shirt is cool man however it was an old photo, thanks for reminding me tho. I'm not an punk, but I can understand one could think that of me. Most people do the first time. Apparently I look like a punk and therefore I am a in quote "punk ass",-makes sense. Assuming the FB link is you--aren't you a little to old for the 'LMAO' terminology, Mike?

Either way, we're both wasting server space right here. I don't think the admins like us to continue this matter on this particular website. I shall inbox you within the next hour, you may continue the discussion there--if necessary.

reply

A little old? I see grandmas using internet lingo, as you
say, this is 2013, right?

also, wasting server space, and admins??
Its kind of like a little hide out on unpopular movie boards like this on, lol.
IMDB is mostly run by its users, only way to get "caught"
by and admin and have a post deleted is to either make someone really
mad, and they rat on you, or you are in a popular spot, and
one of these know it all IMDB board "police" will rat on you.
And these "police" guys don't even get paid, they just skulk around
and try to get other users into trouble, I hate people like that.
I have had entire discussions just to catch up with people
on boards like this going for 5 pages deep, when I used to
"hang out" on this site for am hour a so more every night, years
ago. Just answering people trivia questions on the INTK board.
but it got to be too much after a while

oh, and BTW, I am Mike...

reply

Loool, really!? Okee ye, I thought 'LMAO' or 'LMFAO' was mostly used by United States teens. But you're right, it's 2013 anything is possible lol.

Ye well that was my point, the 'internet police' haha! They're indeed the lowest of the lowest! They probably have no life of their own.. Well ye I've had to many bad experiences with them so called 'forum mods'. They act like they getting a 100 bux an hour for that stuff. but o well, if they don't care here we could easily continue here. Anyways what did you think of this movie lol. I personally hated it. Or hate, just boring..

Nice to meet ya, Mike. I'm Michael, obviously, but most people call me Mike as-well.. That coincidence. Anyways, I'm Dutch so forgive me for my grammar errors.

reply

OH OK, dutch! I thought(assumed) that you were a Brit, lol
your dutch, you are A-OK in my book! My favorite YouTube guy
is Dutch!!! Do you watch lbhorrorReview??

http://www.youtube.com/user/lbhorrorReview/videos

I love that guy, funny as hell, lol

anyway, I havent watch this movie yet, actually, I just
came on here to see if it was any good. I actually like
bad movies sometimes so I'll give this one a try, I
downloaded it last night.

Oh and BTW, I am not really a phone guy, lol, I just say things
like that sometimes, it helps shore up my point, lol. and
my wife isn't an EMT, lol, but she did graduate Nursing school,
and waiting to pass the state tests(they are hard)
anyway I am a diesel mechanic, for the last 17 years,
but I watch a lot of movies.

if you PM me your Facebook stuff, I'll send you a request
if you want.

I was really just trying to give the OP a hard time, cause
even though this might be a bad movie, some of the points
he was making were not really plot holes, IMO.
Here in the US, we have some really crappy cell
service if you drive out into BFE(Bum F%u&c^k Egypt(just a weird saying
we use to mean out in the middle of nowhere, lol))
and besides, most people always have 20/20 hindsight when
it comes to frightening and stressful situations,
so trying to say that these people should have done this
or should have done that is really a mute(sp?) point
to me for reasons I already mentioned.

don't get me wrong, I get mad at movies too, but
I try to be a bit more flexible is all.

sooooo, yeeaa. I will C-U-L8r!

Lol mike and mike ok

You act like that is a hard thing to do lol

I worked as a 911 dispatch and cell phones cannot be tracked immediately as you suspect. We got hundreds of calls from cell users and we couldn't pick up their location on the CAD system.

reply

I know what year it is. Yes you can do all that. All I'm saying is I work at one of the biggest 911 centers in my state and in order to even track a phone if you can't pick up a phase 2 can be up to thirty mins after you call there cell provider. Most times they don't even get an exact ping. Not being a dick, just what I do for a living

reply

Hahaha, wow, goody1701d...chill out. No need to bash people on a message board when they have a good point. It's immature.

Incriminating to who? What in the world are you talking about?

1.) Well there would be no movie then, that's like complaining about the other billion movies that have a simple fix, but they don't do it because...movie.

2.) They didn't know he was the guy at the time, they're also just little kids against a pretty big guy, personally I think they should have rallied the troops and confronted him, but...hindsight is 20/20.

3.) The movie was what they recorded, which wasn't even 2 hours. I'm pretty sure cameras can do over 1.5 hours of footage.

4.) Watch the movie, they kept on making this a point, and what do you mean "have that long of a range"? When in the movie could they hear the car while they were too far? They were always within eyesight of the car, their furthest was after they left him when he tricked them into believing he was innocent, but even then it crackled out and they were making a point of the limited range of the mic.

Oh well, all your criticisms are ill-conceived, pointless, and forced.

reply

1) You must never have heard the horror stories of cops or paramedics taking hours to respond to a 911 call.

2) And how would they keep them there? Some crazy woman yelling to everyone "This guy's car is in an amber alert!!" and everyone will just take her word for it and jump the guy or hold him by force? Or he ends up panicking, runs to the car and they lose him for good and maybe harms the little girl in the process. You can't just say "this is how anybody would do it" because that's not how everybody would do it. People react differently all the time and it's not a plot hole.

3) I have a video camera that can record for hours as long as I have a couple of memory cards and battery packs.

4) I don't now much about these so will leave it to the other posters.

reply

2) The girl was in the car dude all she had to do was signal the people next to her and then confront the kidnapper as a group. I'd hope anyone with half a brain would do that.

reply

The guy could have had a gun,he had those guns in his house and a baseball bat in his car.confronting him would not have been the best idea

reply

Cops take forever in real life too. This guy broke into my neighbor's house and my mother called the cops and they took 30 mins to get there and we saw him drive away 3 mins before they got there. As for keeping the kidnapper in public place,he could have a gun,he had all those guns in his house and a bat in his car it would have been risky to try and keep them there

reply

You're defensive because people have corrected your "plot holes" and pointed out that your logic isn't very sound. Hahahahahahaha.
