S06E05 - Demon 79

Real cringe episode at the start, however the demon was quite funny. Music choices were slightly odd.

Wholesome ending.

"Wholesome ending?"

SPOILER alert:

For maybe two characters. What about the rest of the world?

reply

The way I see it, it was about two lost "souls" finding each other.

reply

That's very touching ... as long as the rest of the world doesn't have to die in a ravaging blaze for the sake of their relationship.

reply

It was cringe throughout. If the Devil had that kind of power, why the big plot to steal one single soul?

reply

Satan only has that power if the person fails to kill the eligible individuals within the requisite time. Apparently, up until 1979, the killer was always successful at committing these 'devil-mad-me-do-it' murders to avert armageddon. Assumedly, Mr. Posset was successful in killing the three people whose deaths were featured in those old newspaper clippings. The fourth clipping was a banal article stating that year's May Day was celebrated joyfully without incident.

And I don't know that the devil is stealing the person's soul. My understanding was that, if successful, the killer's soul would be intact and the world spared from nuclear holocaust.

reply

Isnt this the exact plot of Shaymalan's most recent movie, "Knock at the Cabin?

reply

I was quite suprised it turns out to be real and not just in her head/imagination

reply

That would have been predictable.

reply

The music choices were all hits in the UK in the year 1979 - The year the story takes place. There is absolutely nothing odd about it...

Really predictable, overly long and stupid plot anyways. This season was even worse than the ones before.

reply

Again an episode that doesn't feel like it belongs in the Black Mirror universe...

If I ignore that this is a Black Mirror episode I actually found it quite entertaining... but as an entry in the Black Mirror canon it was quite disappointing.
