"Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too" turned into a Disney Channel movie halfway through
Anyone else get that vibe? the first half was pretty good, the tone still kinda felt Black Mirror-ish, but as soon as Ashley Too became real and started screaming and having an over the top attitude it felt like a Disney Channel movie about a pop star that got turned into a robot.
The tone just felt very much like some Disney movie, like the part of her screaming to get the wire out of her butt, and wheeling around in a comedic fashion when she gets to the door like "Um can i get a little help here?".
Then when they all get in the mouse truck to drive to Ashley's house is where it really kicks into a Disney Channel movie, music and all, while they goofily lie their way inside the house, fooling the security guard in an insanely unbelievable way, no one would ever buy that shit, especially since the exterminator is a teenage girl.
I've just never seen such a drastic shift in tone in something in my life, it went from being very serious and dramatic, to being a whimsical Disney movie by the end of it.
I was thinking the episode was heading towards Rachel becoming obsessed with the Ashley Too and constantly wanting to make it proud, and the bot eventually starts getting darker and making her do bad things and fucking her life up. Like it tells her to get rid of her sister cause she doesn't support her.
I feel like if they went more in that direction and cut out all the stuff with the aunt and putting her in a coma and shit it would've overall felt more like a Black Mirror episode.
