This season has been all over the place

The Gabi and Josh arc was getting played out so it was nice that when the show returned in June that they decided to stray away from that. However the episodes since then have been very inconsistent. It's like a surprise bag of a season with some new one-off topic and/or character each episode. It's weird because shows usually are like that when they first start and are trying to find their footing and flow, but this is a rare series where I would say the first two seasons were the height of the series so far. Hopefully this is just an adjustment period as they try to find a new groove.

I did like some of the episodes like the one with Elliott and Alan's foster daughter (who weirdly hasn't been mentioned since). It was nice to see a new side of Elliott and I thought it did well walking the fine line of Elliott's douchiness and sincere side in a way that felt authentic. I also liked the episode where Yolanda, Gabi, and Elliott worked together to try and expose Josh's sketchy assistant. It reminded me of Friends in the way that they still effectively had the main cast together and have fun even when they weren't focusing on Ross and Rachel. Some episodes didn't feel right though like the one were Gabi worked at a diner. It was just really out of place. But again hopefully it's just a rough patch and I'll keep watching with fingers crossed.

I think I mainly miss the continuity.

When the show first came out, I loved it. The first two seasons had me wanting more. Now, it's like the writers gave up. Maybe they know the Fan base is strong now so whatever they come up with, the viewers will eat it up. the actor who plays Elliot had zero chemistry with the foster child. So it seems next episode, she's gone. They could have explored that. Instead we're back with josh and gabby who we know will end up together. They have them trying to avoid sex with each other

Simply put, this season was drab, lackluster, and only marginally endearing. I surprisingly liked the first two seasons, but the second two were coming up very short for me. One last and final season is fine.

A bit of the old ultraviolence...

The first two seasons were more enjoyable, I agree. But there were still enjoyable in this season that you've mentioned here like the foster daughter (who lasted a few episodes), Josh's new assistant, and Sofia's new job. I noticed some episodes like to focus more on the supporting characters that way, like Sofia.
