Best Foreign Film Nomination
Do you think this will be considered on the upcoming important film awards?
shareDo you think this will be considered on the upcoming important film awards?
shareI'm not sure why but I've got a feeling this will be overlooked at any of the best foreign film awards, be they Academy, Golden Globe or Bafta awards. I haven't seen it yet but it's got this weird vibe around it.
Still hoping it will be great though, and that's all that matters.
Fun fact I found on the director Leos Carax's trivia page:
"His professional name, Leos Carax, is an anagram of his first and middle names, "Alex Oscar." His nom de plume, Leos Carax, can be read Le oscar a X (L'oscar à X), which means The oscar goes to X, a funny way to pretend to get the statue."
ENOUGH from the clown!!!!!!!!
Just saw it tonight. It was very entertaining and unlike anything I have ever seen, though I can't see it getting any major awards.
shareIve been lucky enough to see the film in Paris, where the film is attracting a very decent amount of spectators.I HAVE A FEELING that the film is more than likely to be in the Best film category at the CESAR AWARDS iN France in February, and probably the category Best director, Best Actor Denis Lavant, Best supporting actress Kylie Minogue...
If the film is present at the Oscars, it would give the film a major exposition.
Considering the extraordinary destiny of French films recently, i wouldnt be surprised. The Artist, Untouchable, Rust and Bone with Marion Cotillard and directed by Jacques Audiard show the French film industry is constantly offering new exciting projects that attract millions of spectators.
Let's wait for the OSCARS NOMINATIONS TO celebrate.
Never say never, but the chances of the Oscars recognizing this are slim to nil. They usually play it safe. Hell, the only reason Tree of Life got any notice last year was because Terrence Malick is an old Hollywood darling (not that it was undeserved).
shareEach country can only submit one film for the Best Foreign Language category and France already submitted The Intouchables as their entry for the 2013 Oscars.
shareThis is why the Academy Awards are ridiculous. It should be about which films are the best, not about Hollywood patting itself on its back and not about where the film was made.
shareIf it were a fair world this would be considered in the running for Best Film, full stop.
But unfortunately the rules specify only one entry per "foreign" nation, and nothing so lively and fascinating and new will ever catch the attention of mainstream critics in this way.
