Fantastic movie. No need to go deep into symbolism to enjoy.
It is quite obvious that this is a film about film. It starts in the cinema. The lead is an actor (of course!). Every appointment is a kind of presentation/parody on different film genres. We get art movie, thriller, realistic family drama, old man's romance drama, musical, film noir,... to name a few.

Yes: Life is like a movie. Life repeat itself. What is the difference between acting in a movie and in reality? Who/What put us in the movie? What is the machinery ("Holy Motors") that runs the movie?
