Chronological Age Vs. Physical/Emotional Maturity + Intellect + Consent
There exists four basic requirements for sex:
1. Physical maturity - having developed sex organs.
2. Emotional maturity - the ability to control the basic emotions and animalistic urges.
3. Intelligence - knowing what sex is and all its possible implications (pregnancy, STDs, emotional distress, etc).
4. Consent - yes means yes, no means no.
Chronological age alone cannot be the defining characteristic for the legal age of consent. Intelligence must be a major factor.
Consider this example: Compare a person who is 15 years old with an IQ of 140 to a person who is 30 years old with an IQ of 70. Both are most likely to be physically mature enough for sex and both would be able to say yes/no to something they like/dislike, but only one of them would lack the intelligence and emotional maturity to make a well-informed decision - the mentally deficient 30yr old "adult."
To deny a physically/emotionally mature person, who possesses an adequate intellect and understands what sex is and the notion of consent, is unfair discrimination and should be illegal.
To argue against this logic may be indicative of a mental illness/disorder for which one should see a neurologist and/or a psychologist and psychiatrist team for help.
