He had a few standout poems. But the guy was a *beep* psychopath. Most overrated writer in the last century.

I hate the entire premise of this show because of it.

No he wasn't. Poe never killed anyone. Mark Twain in his later years was darker than Poe. I find him more depressing.

I consider Poe to be overrated, he had some talent and vision certainly, but there's much better writers much less known. that being said, I didn't find my personal feelings of his work to effect my enjoyment of the show

Poe wrote dark poems and stories because that is what sold.... he also wrote the first locked room mystery...but in social settings he considered very witty and quite the ladies man...once having been engaged to two women at once.. and though he mourned the death of his first wife he was not a psycopath
