Pew, this show is a huge stinker

I started watching the first episode, and I couldn't even make it all the way through before having to turn off this inanity. I could list all the problems with this show one by one, but lots of people all over the net have already made very thorough enumerations of the problems with this show, so no need to repeat it again.

But still, I thought this show was so bad that I felt compelled to leave a comment about some of it. This show is just terrible on so many fronts. The most glaring problem to me that made the show unwatchable was how *completely* incorrect their portrayal was of a post-electricity society. Without electricity, steam power still works, so certainly by 15 years after the loss of electricity, society would have a decent steam-powered transportation system. Also diesel engines work perfectly without electricity, so we'd still have some cars and trucks and lots of other infrastructure operating. etc. etc. etc.

If the writers put any significant effort at all into figuring out what a post-electricity society would be like then this show might've been good, but they didn't, so it's not.

There was very little thought put into the series and it shows. It was just, "the powers out, what do we do now?".

Try The 100, that's a good post apocalyptic show.

Wow, you're smarter than I am! I watched the entire first season and it was a burden every time. I made it 30 min. through ep. 1 of season 2 and I called it quits for the same reasons you describe. Such a STUPID show! Great concept and it could've been epic if they had the right people behind it.

It's funny how these mainstream shows on the networks are getting worse while FX, FOX, USA are blowing them away with writing a creativity, and forget about cable, their shows are so damn good I can no longer live without paying for HBO, Showtime, Cinemax and Starz (until they canceled Magic City).

Really? I think this show should earn a Emmy

Exactly what I was thinking after the first episode. Internal combustion engines don't need power to work. You would need a spark which is usually done electrically but it wouldn't be imperative. I'm sure the engineers would have had that figured out in pretty short order.

With the exception of long distance communications and electronics most anything we use electricity for today can be done with another source of power.

It wasnt all that long ago that most americans didnt have electricity in their homes and just 30 to 40 years before that we had no way of providing electricity to anyone.
