When this show was first announced I was expecting big things.
I love post-apocalyptic shows/books so was enthralled with this premise.
But bloody hell, they were incapable of coming up with one good story to tell in a world with such interesting context.
I'm trying to think of a bigger disappointment for a show in the last couple of years and I'm struggling
Most of the first season was: lets rescue the son!
Second season: Kill the son in the first minutes of the first episode! ... and then it became a weekly rescue someone episode and by the time they really started addressing the nanites with any seriousness it was tooooo late.
OTA network TV has always been a disappointment,especially for any Sci_fi,
look at V, FlashForward and go back as far 1998's Prey... the major networks rarely treat sci-fi with any respect.
Because unless you have someone with a great vision of the whole series to start with and they rigidly control the production these shows get lost in minutia and miss the forest for the tree

just finished. interesting premise that lacked all the detail that would make it more believable. with no power, so many things were not in production anymore, and would be rotting away. cars sitting around covered in dirt and leaves with full tires! weapons still everywhere functioning like new! 15+ years later, and 20 somethings playing Rush on acoustic guitars! clothing and accoutrements still in great shape! AND THEN the plots were all over the place... I like having redeemable characters in stories, but this one had every single jerk was redeemable, only then to switch back again, etc. it became totally predictable in its unpredictability. still... I was compelled to keep watching because it was semi-engaging, but too stupid to take serious (which is what I needed recently!!).
if they rebooted it on Netflix? I probably wouldn't give a crap.
The best part of the show was when the Nano's were messing with Aaron and sending him into a matrix like world, manipulating him to do the nano's bidding, this should have been explored more. I think Season 2 could have been saved if they went all out with nano's and kept the patriots out a of the picture for the most part. As someone has mentioned before what sucked the most is "a character gets kidnapped, time to rescue them". Too much of that, they even regurgitated the same scenario with the opium dealer in season 1 and the casino boss in season 2, getting characters to fight each other. Clearly the writers at this point were clueless where to go with the series. Such a waste.
shareThe issue was JJ Abrams the man in charge of star wars 7 which was a ripoff of the original trilogy.
Revolution was a mix of Jericho, firefly, the walking dead (minus zombies) and jeremiah (or deadwood I can't remember ) All were post apocalyptic.
Hell, the Patriots and main town, and yellow tint colorization, and episode name "why we fight" in season 2 were ripoffs directly from Jericho.
The Patriots were basically the Allied States of America (jericho), the town setting was a rip off (jericho), "Why we fight" was also the name of a jericho episode, season 2 of jericho had the same yellowish tint as the season 2 episodes of revolution.
There's so much more they ripped off but it's too much to list
