Whose idea was it to put a bunch of effeminate foreigners in this?
(Spoilers.)
Point Break was a classic surf film, and a classic piece of Americana, about American outlaws.
This remake, on the other hand, was a steaming pile of politically correct international crap that only featured two surfing scenes, maybe 5% of the film. Even Pappas was somehow foreign, despite being an FBI agent.
Going to some foreign surfing locales would've been one thing. (This occurred at the end of the real "Point Break".) But to make almost all the characters incoherent foreigners made no sense.
The new Johnny Utah was also uncharismatic, unattractive, and unlikable, unlike Keanu Reeves in the original.
All in all, this film was horrible, and a major offense to the memory of one of the most iconic films of the late 20th century.
(The surfing scenes were okay, but not enough of the movie to matter.)
If they wanted to make a lame movie about extreme sports, foreigners, eco-terrorists, etc., that's fine. Just don't call it Point Break.
