Ray Winstone's American / cockney accent

Anyone notice how Ray Winstone went all cockney mid sentence whenever he got angry or raised his voice.
Not unlike a weird sensation of De Niro starting a sentence then getting help mid sentence from Jason Statham, who then hands back the sentence to De Niro. Strange lack of diction discipline (or whatever an actor might call it) from a normally brilliant Winstone.

If anything, I thought Wintstone toned down his 'gawd blimey' Cockerney accent for this role? Pretty sure his character was British MI5/6 and not American...???

It was inconsistent. In the scene on the dock when he shows Utah the photos, there was a massive wobble... but despite this, he was STILL the best of the main actors by some distance, and the only one who even came close to making me care (even if he ultimately didn't succeed).
