Loved Point Break 2015!!!

Loved Point Break 2015! It went beyond the original. Adding the 8 extreme to do's brought an extra spirituality to it. However sticking to the original point break with the shooting & killing did not go with the heightened spirituality or giving back. This was mentioned in the movie. But would have been better to remove completely. The movie would probably have done better. A dichotomy there with what the 2015 is trying to introduce. There never was much conversation in the original as well. Just enough. Neither of the movies are about verbal conversation. The conversation is within, with Nature, the Elements, with one Self. Loved the 2015 version!!! Especially Edgar Ramirez! So gentle, compassionate, kind, accepting of human nature, encouraging; good acting as a portrayal of Bodhi or is he really this? Gorgeous person if really so. He does volunteer work for children, perhaps actually so ..... Gorgeous!

no on everything you just said.

I feel like I'm reading a post from someone who just rubbed one out to Edgar Ramirez.

Is this Edgar Ramírez writing or his mother?

Not a Rhetorical question: did you write this while you were tripping?

You guys are really being OTT and rude to the OP. it's just a movie they happened to enjoy. Calm down.

I just watched it and it wasn't great by any means, but it wasn't unbearable either (in my opinion, is that ok? Does it make me all sorts of bad things and an ugly person to have somewhat enjoyed it?). I found it to be an average and tolerable/borderline enjoyable romp..

I re-watched the 1991 one straight after, and it has really aged (it was one of my favourite movies when it came out, i was exactly 18 years old and watched it at least 3 times just at the cinema). Keanu's acting was at it's absolute worst, in his early stages. He never became an Anthony Hopkins no, but he's not as bad now as he was then. Besides Lori and Patrick, all the other actors were really cheesy also. The rest of the gang felt like "hey dude, where's my car", as far as i am concerned.
As was the cinematography and music. Generally cheesy, that is. The only thing that was impressive visually were the stunts, especially for 25 years ago. I don't know if they were real or not, but the skydiving looked totally convincing to me. The score was bad also IMO.

***SPOILERS***

Re the new film, my main issue with it was that it felt rushed. The way Utah got so close to them so quickly felt forced, and although at first I was hooked by the spiritual aspect and thought they were actually good people (basically modern day robin hoods) who had a deep connection to the universe, it all went to *beep* when they willingly tried to murder a bunch of old people driving trucks who were just ordinary people that were probably struggling to feed their families. It did ruin a lot of the movie for me as it totally counter acted the spiritual aspect IMO. Also, the whole love story aspect and then the death, felt like such a jekyll and hyde, that i found it very irritating. It's like there were chunks of the movie that someone reached in and clawed out, and that was the biggest problem for me.. the flow.

That said, the stunts were exciting, the new Utah's acting was definitely better than Reeve's, there were some breathtaking visuals, and a satisfying enough conclusion like the first film. I also think, rather than do a blatant copy, they actually really thought of ways to make it fresh and current. A few key things were changes for the positive.

Basically i wouldn't watch it again (nor the first one for that matter now that i have re seen it 20 years later LOL), but i certainly didn't hate it like some people on internet boards seem to feel the need to convey, and with such passion. Honestly the replies in this topic have come across as cuckoo to me.. i say get a life if a movie can do such damage to you.
Calm down. Chill. It was a film. The OP liked it. You didn't. That's life. No need to be vicious.

He didn't enjoy it. He is a paid studio shill.

The original Point Break has aged alright. It has aged by showing that PG-13 remakes will never be any good.

I agree it was a movie. The 1syt is an all time classic, NO one and I mean NO one rocked hair like the mullet. Swayze was great, Reaves cant act I agree but he made Utah 2.0 look like Carrottop playing Shaft.
I agree he got close way to easy. I hated this movie with the intensity of 1000 suns. A bunch of eco freaks who all looked and sounded the same, and for *beep* sake , Teresa Palmer is a beautiful woman, why'd they ugly her up and give her some wacko name and hide her lovely Aussie accent.
In fairness I detest reboots, re-imagining of great movies, write an original story, dont be lazy.

How has the original aged, aside from the chilli peppers not looking 100 years old the way they do now. Busey was awesome as Pappas, hte only complaint I had was that the love interest should have been at least semi attractive. Petty is not exactly a looker

Yeah, seems legit.

wow i really don't check those things.. are you guys that worried that you need to do that?

Ok now you made me check, yeah, only 2 posts entirely and both about PB. it seems a bit of a shill thing to do..

Regardless, i stand by my reply in that we don't need to resort to acting like (badly behaved) children, no matter what.

Hey, I have a life. Which is why I do not post on other movies. This post happened by chance. I am entitled to my opinion. Sounds like those who objected to my post are just jealous. Well, boo hoo too bad.

reply

Well sure, you've just been so busy living life, that you immediately had to drop everything you were doing to let us IMDb losers know how amazing the Point Break remake is? Yeah, ok. Thanks for dropping some knowledge, you *beep* ing shill.

you didn't answer my question hippie lol

I also like this film, particularly the idea of The Eight.

This idea has so much potential, yet the script was poorly developed and the acting / editing are questionable. If a better director were involved and the film had one additional hour of run time, this could be a classic. Think about Se7en.

As it is, its only redeeming aspect is the action.
