Officer Bill Creek violated the 'two-man' buddy rule

***** SPOILERS ***** SPOILERS ***** SPOILERS

Sympathetic, San Pedro police detective, Bill Creek (Casper Van Dien) gets himself killed while investigating the 'haunted' house in San Pedro. While inspecting one of the bedrooms, the killer ambushes him with a knife thrust to the carotid artery. While I felt badly for the detective, I kept asking, 'Why did you enter that home alone, with no back-up, for mutual protection?' This is what happens to the best-intentioned. I've spoken with cops before who told me that getting ambushed is one of their biggest dangers. That's why cops in big urban cities never go it alone. It's just too risky.

I believe that running into a serial killer was the furthest thing from his mind. He was investigating a haunting.

Well, they also botched the "search the house" part for missing persons. This is one of those flimsy plots that can be easily undone by standard police procedures.

All of it seemed rather pointless.

I guess they wanted to show that the danger was real, but I don't really see what Creek's character added to the plot.
