SJW's are idiots, this movie is a perfect example of why

Chinese movie, made mainly for Chinese audiences (with hopes of breaking into western theaters), Chinese crew specifically wanted Matt Damon but these idiots are complaining about "hollywood whitewashing". Movie isn't a hollywood movie, movie being made exactly as the supposed race being "whitewashed" wants it to.

All these SJW's wearing trendy outfits, sitting in their comfy coffee shops sipping 8 dollar cups of coffee whining about their first world problems on their iphones. You guys crack me up.

This point has been made to the SJW morons over and over on this board but don't expect it to get through their thick skulls. They will just claim Universal is the one in charge of the film even though they are just the distributors or carry on about how all the writers are white even though as Director Zhang Yimou has the ultimate say on the direction of the film.

I absolutely love the other notion put out by SJW that white actors need to turn down roles such as this because it offends the delicate sensibilities of the SJW cry babies. This stuff apparently causes them to get triggered and forces them to get intense counseling and therapy to get over their butt hurt.

Matt Damon is the biggest SJW of all, and yet he hypocritically chooses to deprive Asian actors of work. Damon is not your pal, cons, even though he is a traitor to true progressives who stand by their principles and thus against whitewashing.

Like most Hollywood 'libs' he is an enemy to us all, both on the political left and right.

Your logic is flawed. The point of him being there is because the director feels he would help bring this movie to western audiences. This movie appealing to the west means more money and the possibility for more Chinese movies to be shown in the west. All of that would help China's budding movie industry to grow, meaning much more acting jobs for Chinese people in the long run.

Overall, it's both a smart business decision and helps Asian actors. So no hypocrisy.

I guess all the sociology and ethnic studies classes in the world didn't inform Ms. Wu that you can't make judgements about another culture through your own culture's lens. Han Chinese in China aren't “POCs.” In China, they're the top dogs, and the notion that we uppity white barbarians hold any sway over their unconscious behavior would be completely laughable to them.

To them, we're a bunch of formerly uncivilized savages who arose out of nowhere to temporarilly embarass their 5000 year old civilization.

What is a form of bigotry, however, is a native-born Virginia girl donning a completely fake Taiwanese accent for laughs, which is exactly what Ms. Wu is doing on her sitcom.

The major investment is from Legendary,an American company, the producer, American, the writer, American. They just hired a Chinese director and several actors/actress to open up Chinese market.

Legendary was purchased by the Wanda Group a Chinese company back on in January 2016. If they wanted to make changes to the film they had a whole year to do re-shoots and edit out the white guys if they wanted.

People need to get used to it.

China is buying out many movie theater companies and also movie studios.

AMC theaters is now Chinese owned.

This is not the first film this year I've watched that has a Chinese film company in the opening credit as the producer.

There were several others including Star Trek Beyond and Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, both were financed by Alibaba Film Studios which is worth over $9 billion.

There is a movie studio in China that is bigger than any movie studios in Hollywood in term of financial assets and the size of their movie lots and they are cranking out about 25 major films per week!!

So this is directed by a Chinese director and they specifically wanted a Western A LIST star to bring in more people? Sounds logical to me, I suggest those complaining should get mad at the Chinese
