In the scene where the mistress approaches Patsey and injures her face (later apparently her eye too), what exactly does she do to her?
"I have so many objections I don't know where to start"
IF I remeber correcrly she cuts her with broken glass or her nails

I replayed it a couple of times on dvd, that didn't clear it up.
Afterwards the mistress was rubbing her fingers together, like possibly she got some skin/blood on/in her nail(s).
But one fingernail slash would not have created that 'V' shaped serious cut
I thought that she scratched the wound open that she had earlier inflicted on Patsy's face when she smashed a bottle in her face.
shareI didn't understand that either.I thought she just slapped her but Patsey cried out like it was something much more.And what happened to Eliza? Good movie as a whole but those sloppy missing pieces make it less than a great movie.
shareShe has re-opened the wound she inflicted earlier by throwing a bottle with her nail or other sharp object (most likely her nail as we see her nursing the nail afterwards)
shareThe mistress was jealous of the slave because she attracted the overseer. The mistress really wants to strike the man for lusting the slave, but cant, so the slave has to take the punishment instead.
