Did politics win this the Oscar?

I loved the film and it was probably my favourite of 2013 but did critics vote for it because of its politics or because they thought it was the best film?

If the "Hurt Locker" could win Best Picture, anything is impossible. "Hurt Locker" was probably one of the weakest entries ever.

It won cuz it's one of the greatest movies ever. It's flawless.

Politics win every oscar.

It's far better than mediocrities like Argo, The King's Speech, Hurt Locker or Slumdog Millionaire. Whether politics were involved doesn't really matter. At least a good film won.
