So was the John Lithgow character … (spoilers)

…guilty of the accusations made against him?

Was it by his initiative that the Nigerian nun was brought over in order to derail the Nigerian cardinal’s bid, or did he only do what the Pope asked him to do, as he claimed?

Did he bribe several other cardinals for support, or were the documents forged?

He denied the accusations, but of course he could have been lying.

reply

Yes, Sister Rossellini had the papers to prove it, which she did, rather hilariously. Did you miss that scene ?

reply

No, I saw that, but I was left wondering if the papers could have been forged on the orders of the dying Pope in order to hurt the chances of the candidates he disliked.

reply

I suppose that would have been possible, is a bit of a convoluted reach. He clearly seemed like a rascal, they probably didn't have to invent evidence.

reply

it was not open to interpretation.
