Cusack and Cage never a frame together ?

I just saw it and it felt like Cage and Cusack never shared one frame (apart from the one at the end credits).
Am I imagining this or was there trouble on set or what?

I thought they were together when Gage was interviewing him in jail.

They were together at the end when Gage was interrogating Gucask.

i don't know about trouble on the set, but i thought about how little screen time they shared while watching it.
until cage comes in and gets in his face with the map, they are never on screen at the same time, except shoulder shots of each other, which would have been as easy to do with a stand in as not.

at the very end of the interrogation, when he confronts him with the map, and bracelet, thats about it... and honestly, that's next to nothing... of course there is the chopper scene as well, but that's super brief too..

it might have had more to do with scheduling issues, and budget constraints, than it had to do with trouble between them though.

Well.. Cage's character was secretly investigating him, so it didn't make sense for them to be all buddy-buddy during the movie. The scenes they were in were the ones that counted.

Exactly… it's like these people didn't even pay attention to the storyline…

I keep thinking of an interview with Michael Biehn, who plays the male hero-character 'Reese' in The Terminator, where he says "People are always asking me about Arnold (Schwarzenegger)... But we never had a scene together! If we had, the movie would've been much shorter." :-)

From what I've heard Cage is a laid back guy and Cusack seems pretty cool so I doubt there was any ego crap on set. I actually enjoyed not having them together for most of the movie until the very end. I kept trying to think if they had been in any movies together during their careers and it wasn't until I read the trivia where it mentions Con Air.

What's interesting is if you look closely during the shot at the end where they're both in the helicopter together it almost looks like Cage is smiling a bit as if they were having a good time on the ride and the director didn't notice until editing so he couldn't change it.
