This movie was great and people hate on it because it's a dark comedy that people died in. However it's very entertaining and its weird because I don't ever remwmber hearing about this in the news

sharei think it's really good but could've been even better. it has a lot of cliches and it's clearly hollywoodified and overly dramatacized to its downfall, but the story and characters are absolutely top notch. it was one of my favorite films of 2016, but it could've been one of the best of the decade had it been a bit more unique without the cliches.

another cliche that drives me nuts is how the film opens. it literally starts with a freeze frame on miles teller's face in peril and his narration saying "yeah, that's me. you're probably wondering how i got here. well, it all started at the beginning..." god, i HATE that. there's a reason that format became a meme, it's just so cliche! not to mention some of the scenes that clearly never happened in real life and were made up to make the film more "interesting" like the iraq chase scene. the best parts of the movie are the scenes set in america, with hill and teller getting beat up at the club, screaming at people in board room meetings, and jonah hill being a borderline sociopath. WAY more interesting than generic action scenes.
still a great movie
It wasn't that good. The book was much better. They tried to Hollywoodize this story too much and make it appeal to the bro-comedy crowd who likes Jonah Hill's other movies and stuff like The Wolf of Wall Street.
