Come on Jill...
Jill is 100 yrs old and you mean to tell me she didn't know that black people get followed around in stored or that the dance is not funny?

shareJill's full of $#!t! Some people don't like speaking about the inequities of this country! You see how some treated Obama with impunity; a Congressman calling him "a lie" at the SOTU! He not only wasn't chastised for his disrespect, he made campaign funds out of it! How this country can talk about other so called less democratic states is amazing! We're truly the biggest hypocrites in the history of the planet! We talk a good game, but after election of Trump, we've proved we're little further in intellect and common sense than the 50's!

I completely agree. I am just waiting for someone to come on here and disagree.
shareI kind of believe Jill could be that ignorant and I kind of don't.
I know white people like her who are so wrapped in privilege and live in a bubble that they're blind to everything that goes on outside of their upper middle class lives of Audis and country clubs. Jill seems like she was both born into money and later married a man who makes money so she can be a housewife raising three daughters.
But at the same time, you don't have to be black to know the kind of things they have to deal with. I'm not black and I know about how if you're black and driving a nice car there's a higher chance a cop pulls you over just because.
For Jill to not know that "we don't want your *kind* moving in here" racism exists, even if official segregation has ended - that I can't believe anyone could be that stupid.
You may be right, but with her being around Holly I find it hard to believing this hasn't come up before. Just last week they talked about Nia and Cameron(?) being the only 2 black girls pinned against each other for a solo. I'm sure something came up about that.
shareI don't know. I found Jill's comments almost hard to believe. These moms are from Pittsburgh, and even though I know that none of them live in the city proper (Abby's studio was in the Penn Hills a borough 10 mins outside the city), even the suburban areas have some diversity. It made her come off as ignorant and naive, which I guess Jill pretty much is a lot of the time
shareExactly. I really can't believe that people think that Jill is this lost.
I wish IMDB had a like button.

Personally I completely believe it. I can very easily see her reinforcing her bubble so life doesn't get tougher.

That right there is called "privilege".
Just so you know.
It's a perspective you have. An experience. And it's valid. But as a black person let me tell you that being followed around does happen. And it's not just unprofessional actively racist people. It's implicitly biased people as well. Getting eyeballed in stores because you're with loudpeople. I've literally had to tell my white friends to calm down because they're going to get ME in trouble if they act suspicious.
Try to pay attention to the things that other people are saying. The experiences they've had, it is their reality and your reality doesn't change theirs.
I am not even going to entertain his nonsense above. He thinks He knows something because she has never done it or seen it. I have not been followed around in a store to my knowledge, but I will not sit here and say it doesn't happen.
I wish IMDB had a like button.

Yea you sound racist af. I've been followed in stores before. Heck I've worked in retail and they tell you to follow certain people.
But you already know that you just wanted to spout your BS views about how black people think we're "special". As if we WANT to be see as less because it's SO FUN. Gtfo with that BS

I've never had any problems; retail, apts., banks! Going back to when I was a kid, stores took my check without calling to verifying anything! If you carry yourself better, you won't have to become a victim!

Lol, they do actually. I worked at Victoria secret and we had a code word for darker POC. . And how come there are other stories of mangers/people at stores doing this? And yes, there are MANY stories of people getting sued because of it. Maybe you should do a simple google search before you make a definite comment like this?
Actually, i am just going to block so you can't comment back. Your post history is very centered around race and "whites" and "blacks" How sad it is that people are so in denial that racism still exist.
I meant to comment on this after the episode. I found it strange that someone like Holly would be watched closely in a store just because she's black.
I've worked retail for years, and it's a little too easy to spot a thief, whether they be white, black, or whatever. It's more how someone acts than how they look. It's hard to explain, but sometimes you just KNOW. If Holly walked into my store, I definitely would not think anything of it! There are definitely more white than black folks where I live, and a large Hispanic community, but I will still say there are way more methed up white thieves here than any other race.
I could go on and on about this, but my point is, most of us white people don't stereotype black people.
I'm watching the episode now ......What the heck is wrong with Jill????
